Posttraumatic Pseudolipoma (Fat Necrosis) Mimicking Atypical Lipoma or Liposarcoma on MRI

چکیده
We report a case of a 53 year old female who presented with a painless mass over her left greater trochanter. Evaluation with MRI and ultimately biopsy led to a diagnosis of fat necrosis. If this diagnosis had been considered with greater confidence, a conservative approach could have been taken and biopsy avoided. In patients with lesions demonstrating classic locations and imaging features of fat necrosis, observation without biopsy is appropriate.

Giant Lipoma with Fat Necrosis of the Back Mimicking Atypical Lipomatous Tumor in MRI Findings
Result: A 63-year-old man presented with a 2-year history of a subcutaneous nodule in his back. MRI showed that a 20 × 15 cm well-circumscribed tumor was located beneath the latissimus dorsi muscle with high signal intensities on both T1and T2weighted images and signal attenuation on fat suppression sequences. Inside the tumor, there were multiple thickened septa with gadolinium enhancement, wh...
متن کاملIncomplete paresis of the sciatic nerve due to massive atypical lipoma of the pelvis: a case report
BACKGROUND Liposarcomas are classified into four subtypes, with different malignancy potential and characteristic imaging appearances. Well-differentiated liposarcomas have imaging characteristics similar to those of benign lipomas, however they can be usually distinguished from lipomas because of the larger size and broader fibrous septa, with a more nodular appearance. CASE PRESENTATION Thi...
متن کاملLiposarcoma of the paratesticular tissue and spermatic cord: a case report.
INTRODUCTION Liposarcomas are malignant tumors derived from fat tissues. Liposarcoma of the paratesticular tissue is rare. CASE REPORT We presented a 51-year-old man with liposarcoma of paratesticular tissue and the spermatic cord, mimicking a testicular tumor. Ultrasound examination of this scrotal mass was hyperechogenic and homogeneous and separated from the testis and epididymis. The pati...
متن کامل[Perinephric liposarcoma mimicking cystic renal tumor].
Liposarcoma is one of the most common primary retroperitoneal neoplasms, and the perinephric region is a frequent location for them. Liposarcomas show a variety of radiographic features in terms of histological types and tumor sizes, so the specific diagnosis of liposarcoma is often difficult. We present a unique case of perinephric dedifferentiated liposarcoma mimicking cystic renal tumor. A 7...
متن کاملHibernoma of the axillary region: a rare benign adipocytic tumor
Hibernoma is a rare benign tumor considered to arise from remnants of fetal brown adipose tissue. It tends to occur in sites where brown fat persists beyond fetal life, such as the interscapular region, but can occur in sites where brown fat is usually absent in adults. Clinicallywell, hibernomas are slow-growing, asymptomatic tumors. However, unlike lipomas, MRI findings sometimes mislead clin...
